"The Animal Collective fan in me will likely always remember Lisbon as the place Panda Bear picked to record Person Pitch and to live with his wife and child. But now I can addPedro Magina and his music to my list of Lisbon-based associations. Magina's Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five tape is out now on Not Not Fun Records, and though his music is nowhere near the sunburned, tropic-tinged sounds of Person Pitch, it manages to be just as meditative and every bit as excellent. Britt of Not Not Fun was nice enough to send over "Miyagi," and its undulating synthesizers have been transporting me ever since. Fans of the spaced-out sounds of Megazord, Oneohtrix Point Never and Zonotope should enjoy it. Meanwhile, the other songs streaming at Magina's MySpace sound a bit more subdued. Regardless, these are blissfully ambient songs that shimmer and soar even as they're soused in Lisbon's coastal waters. Buy Magina's Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five tape from Not Not Fun."
We are very happy to announce that this June we will bring one of the best and renowned Portuguese bands to Barcelona: Gala Drop. Their show full of experimental electronics and guitars, creating amazing kraut-rock and psychadelic ambiances, will be supported by Sunny Graves (Jahbitat/Narwhal) who will present his latest creations and by Gonzo dj (D.N.A. club). The night will prepare you well for Sonár, which kicks off the day after.
The show will be in Moog and tickets will be just 6 euros.
Check out the info about Gala Drop, a band that made it into the Resident Advisor recommended list, the reference website for electronic music, with their last EP Overcoat Heat. Philip Sherburne introduced them as follows:
"Gala Drop are a four-piece from Lisbon, Portugal; after their self-titled, double-vinyl debut last year, they make their first appearance on New York's Golf Channel Recordings. Panda Bear recently invited them to open for him there, which isn't surprising; their music is imbued with the same psychedelic sensibility that you might find in Animal Collective, El Guincho, Delorean, John Talabot, Four Tet, or even James Holden."
To get a taste of it, here is a video for a song of their latest EP Overcoat Heat, Drop:
We are really excited to book one more show for Tyvek, this time in Portugal. The show will take at Mercado Negro, in Aveiro. The tickets will be just 4 euros and the local band The Underdogs will open the show.

We are really glad to announce to be booking a gig for Detroit city’s garage punk rockers Tyvek in Barcelona.
With a handful of releases on such essential labels as Siltbreeze, What’s your rupture? and Sub Pop, Tyvek have now made their way to the most crucial rock n roll label in existence, In the Red Records, with their latest outing “Nothing fits”. A record that might get them the recognition they so well deserve and make their studio music closer to their widely renowned savage live shows, whose reputation is well established in America and within the very selected crowds in Europe who were lucky to witness them in 2009.
The Tyvek show will be part of the Nitsa Club night in which also will perform the Catalan rock 'n roll band Els Surfing Sirles. Their latest record was called "LP" and they just released a split EP with Mujeres called "Eix Transversal" (both released by Bankrobber).
